Centennial Working Dogs
We train to PSA standards.  Dogs are trained in primary and secondary drives with the goal of PSA, personal protection, controlled aggression, and basic/advanced  on/off leash obedience.   All of our dogs are reliable in social and family environments.  For those not interested in a club atmosphere, individual instruction may be tailored for you and your dog on a case by case basis.

An initial, honest evaluation is completed to see if the dog has the genetic make up for the work and if the owner’s goals match the abilities of the dog.

Please e-mail us if you are interested in either joining our club or individual training.  In your initial e-mail, please include your name and contact number, your dog's breed/age and what your expectations are for you and your dog.

Ron Lombardo Co-Founder

Picture
Ron Lombardo is one of the original co-founders of Centennial Working Dogs.  The group started in fall of 2006.  Prior to that Ron has been involved in his own dogs’ training for years in obedience, agility, and personal protection.  Even though he has had some stand out dog performers, he has no formal certifications in dog training.  Ron holds a B.S. Degree from Penn State University and had his MBA program interrupted by military service and a family.  He is now Regional Sales Mgr for a nationally recognized payroll company.  A Colorado resident for 30 years, he holds advance black belt martial arts degrees and was a martial arts instructor for many years through the Denver Sporting Club/Colorado Athletic Club and Cherry Creek Schools.  He was selected as a judge for Colorado candidates for Tae Kwon Do representatives to the Seoul Olympics.  His philosophy on protection dogs is similar to his goal with martial arts students:  just everyday good citizens until a threatening situation calls for action.  Ron’s other interests include sports cars, motorcycles and firearms.

Benjamin Toth  Decoy

Picture
Ben Toth was born and raised in Colorado, growing up in Westminster with a younger sister, brother and two step-sisters.   He is a soon-to-be father and very excited for the birth of his son, Caden Thomas.  Ben went to private schools until College, then attended ACC briefly in order to pursue a career in Architecture but successfully acquired a job in the telecommunications industry has been gainfully employed by them for almost 10 years now.  He's spent the better part of the last 10 years living out south, from west Littleton to Greenwood Village.   About 7 years ago, Ben was introduced to the Malinois breed and quickly learned how amazing these dogs were and got to work with them up close and personal.  He immediately took interest in decoy work for personal protection tactics and has been working to master all of the skills required to be successful at it.  The group that introduced him to the world of dog training and the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd breeds also gave him his first dog, Allie.    He was so impressed by her and this breed that he went to a breeder when Allie was about a year and a half old and  bought Ozzie.    Ben  enjoys working his dogs and his involvement with CWD.  He was one of the original 3 members of CWD and has seen phenomenal successes in not only his dogs, but in every member of CWD and their dog(s) over the last 3 years. "I never imagined I would end up part of such an amazing team of people/dogs.  I look forward to every training session as if it were the first!"

Rochele Smit

Picture
Rochele Smit was first introduced to working dogs when she was 12 years old and decided she wanted a German Shepherd.  It wasn't until she was 17 that she was finally able to purchase a puppy, but she spent all the years in between researching like crazy!  Her first dog was trained in Search and Rescue.  Four years ago, she started going to protection trials.  She was hooked and learned as much as she could about the sport. Originally, she was going to purchase a Czech working line GSD, but after watching Dutch Shepherds in action, she was quickly swayed.  Three years ago, she was presented the opportunity to purchase an excellent female pup.  "Zonya has been the most amazing dog!  She constantly exceeds my expectations and has been a joy to own!"  She trains in SDA and Personal Protection and has just begun training Mondioring.  Although young, and fairly new to the working dog world, Rochele has been blessed to have great mentors and actively pursues chances to better herself and her dogs.  She's very passionate about the Dutch Shepherd breed, and one day, hopes to start her own lines.  Rochele was raised in Michigan, and attened Western Michigan University's College of Aviation.  She and her husband  moved to Colorado in the spring of 2009 and couldn't be happier. Other than her dogs and training, she enjoys traveling, snowboarding, cooking, and writing.
